Oakland Raiders Should Have Found Money For Khalil Mack - Vlog To Brandon Dawkins On Facebook, Zennie62 Fan Brandon Dawkins wrote on my comment on the Khalil Mack Trade to the Chicago Bears “In this case.... it's all football... Look at the other teams (elite teams) in the league: New England, Green Bay, Seattle, we can even add Carolina to the mix.... who's the highest paid player on the team? The QB right.... in a quarterback driven league, you take care of the QB. The defensive end/linebacker should never get more than the QB, especially when you know every year there's studs on the defensive side of the ball in the draft. Paying Mack all that money would have strapped the poor franchise for many years. It might not seem like a great move now but I guarantee it's gonna pay off in the long run. Now we have the money to take care of Cooper, maybe extend Lynch another season... Mack is worth the money, he was just worth more than what the RAIDERS could afford. Pretty soon Carr is gonna take a pay cuy... give it 3 more seasons” I firmly disagree. The Khalil Mack Trade was borne essentially of the Oakland Raiders lack of desire to keep his services. The Raiders wanted Mack to dance to their tune, not work to maintain Mack’s talent as a pass rusher. The idea was that he should come to camp and play. The Raiders made zero effort to do a sponsorship deal and pay Mack. So the idea that the Raiders are poor is an insult to those who truly are poor. The Oakland Raiders are capable of striking million dollar sponsorship deals with many firms tech or not. The Raiders did not lift a finger to get more money for Khalil Mack. Moreover, I contend that the Raiders under this group of Davis and Gruden and McKenzie are reluctant to spend big money on black players. The message the Raiders send is a black player should dance whereas a white player or coach is worth spending a lot of money on. Prove me wrong. I don’t write that with glee but with sadness. In 2018 that pattern should not be. But it is. Stay tuned.
