Oakland Raiders Mark Davis Gets Leigh Steinberg Award

Oakland Raiders Mark Davis Gets Leigh Steinberg Award - Video

Mark Davis, the Oakland Raiders Owner, donated $250,000 to the Oakland Unified School District to help save sports programs in the Oakland Athletic League, last August 31st, 2018. That act of philanthropy gained Davis an award from famed sports agent Leigh Steinberg. Leigh Steinberg, who's known Mark Davis for 45 years, going back to his days as a student at UC Berkeley, presented the award for "helping to save youth sports" at the 31st "Leigh Steinberg Super Bowl Party" in Atlanta, at Believe Music Hall, Saturday, February 2nd, before Super Bowl LIII. In presenting the award to Davis, who was present, Steinberg said "The only team I've owned season tickets with is the Oakland Raiders," then went on to tell how he developed a friendship with Davis. For his part, Davis described Leigh as someone he first was told about because Leigh negotiated what was then the largest rookie contract in NFL history: 4 years and $650,000. That news got back to Davis, but, as he said at the Steinberg Party, Mark was shocked to realize the guy in flip-flops was the same man who set the NFL record deal! The two became fast friends, and have remained so to this day. Stay tuned.
