Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf And Councilmember Desley Brooks Must Do Lunch On the week of October 16th, 2013, then-Oakland City Auditor Courtney Ruby issued a report accusing Brooks and District 7 Councilmember Larry Reid of violating a section of the City Charter every other rep in Oakland has went against in history. Mayor Schaaf was the District Four representative at the time and was going to support the report. She wound up abstaining. She said nothing bad about Brooks - took high ground. Today, Mayor Schaaf has done the opposite. In 2013, I said both to Libby and Desley that they were very much alike and should do lunch. Now, in 2018, I say again they should do lunch for the good of Oakland. The homeless and others need Oakland’s leaders to ban together and not be against each other. The issues that Annie Campbell Washington’s announcement of retirement gave light to are petty. We need to move forward.
