MLB Commissioner Bob Manfred Said 2020 Revenues Are Down 70 Percent; Can’t Pay Avg Salary - Video

MLB Commissioner Bob Manfred Said 2020 Revenues Are Down 70 Percent; Can’t Pay Avg Salary On ESPN an hour ago, MLB Commissioner Bob Manfred said that "revenues were down 70 percent." That means revenues are 70 percent less than in 2019. Let's look at that. In 2019, Major League Baseball set a revenue record taking in $10.7 billion. If revenues are down 70 percent, that means the 2020 revenue is at $3.210 billion. So, what does that mean for players? Their are 30 teams in Major League Baseball. The 2020 revenue of $3.210 billion breaks down to $107 million per team. If the 2010 average roster is 26, that comes to $4,115,384.62 per player. Now, the 2019 MLB Average Salary was $4,360,000 or -$244,615.38 less than the what the current revenue for MLB can afford to pay. So, this gives a view of why the Oakland A's were not able to pay rent to a Coliseum stadium it can't use. As I said, the entire matter should have been handled back channel. COVID-19 has damaged the American Economy. Stay tuned,
