But guess what region was most interested in the news? California? No. North Dakota. North Dakota led all states in intensity of search for the keyword "noose" and in direction connection to the Oakland Lake Merritt problem. North Dakota is also a state that went for Donald Trump in the 2016 Presidential Election. Could it be that there's a connection between the racist incidents and some crazy attempt to activate what's seen as President Trump's base? If so, then the City of Oakland has to take steps in legislation to stop noose making before it starts. And it should be illegal for any candidate to use race and racist incidents for political gain.
