East Oakland Councilmembers Taylor And Reid Must Implement AB 464 Now To Help Small Business In The Coliseum Area Oakland City Councilmembers Loren Taylor (District 6) and Treva Reid (District 7) are taking an unfortunate victory lap by celebrating a small change in Oakland's budget that will allow for the following: Traffic calming and sideshow deterrence support Security cameras to support business corridors Increased investments for a targeted traffic safety and violence prevention program Neighborhood beautification and mural funds Funding to expedite 911 response times Workforce development, career placement, and business services All of that while people in East Oakland are still suffering from the impacts of The Pandemic. You would think that with all of the complaining about Howard Terminal and the use of tax increment financing there, that they would be super-excited about implementing AB 464, which allows for the creation of EIFDs for small business, but no - not a peep. Celebrating base hits when homeruns are needed is not the way to run the City of Oakland. Residents are counting on government to do big things, and now, not later. AB 464 is the key to that big thing for East Oakland. See: https://ift.tt/2V3SpHb Stay tuned.
