Esmeralda Cortez Rosales Joins Treva Reid, Ken Houston, Marshon Tatmon, Bishop Bob Jackson, and Tyrone Stevenson in the 2020 Oakland City Council District 7 Race. As reported here before, Treva Reid, who's father is the legendary Oakland City Councilmember and "Dean of the City Council" Larry Reid, is running against a new list of legendary Oaklanders: Ken Houston, Marshon Tatmon, Bishop Bob Jackson, and Tyrone Stevenson for 2020 Oakland City Council District 7. Again, If you think "I've seen those names before," it's because Ken Houston has ran for Mayor of Oakland twice in 2014 and 2018, Marshon Tatmon ran against Houston and the incumbent Mayor Libby Schaaf last year, Bishop Bob Jackson is the Senior Pastor of Acts Full Gospel Church of God in Christ in East Oakland, and Tyrone Stevenson is East Oakland's famous "Scraper Bike King". Rounding out this 2020 Oakland Elections News update, incumbent District One Oakland City Council Member Dan Kalb is running against political new-comer Stephanie Dominguez Walton. In Oakland City Council District Three, Jesse Alexander and Noel Pico are the new entrants in a race that now has the re-entry of incumbent Oakland City Councilmeber Lynette Gibson McElhaney, though Cat Brooks is expected to face-off against her and the others. Meanwhile, Oakland City Council At-Large Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan, who was running without opposition for re-election is expected to see a challenge from Oakland tax preparer Nancy Sidebotham. Stay tuned.
