California News Times Illegally Scrapes Oakland News Now Content For Use On Google News - Video
California News Times Illegally Scrapes Oakland News Now Content For Use On Google News This is outrageous and also illegal. It's not legal for a person or company to wholesale copy Oakland News Now content and post it to basically replace where Oakland News Now content would come up in search - no excerpt, and no obvious track-back link. But that's what the owners of California News Times have done and are doing. Who is CaliforniaNewsTimes.com? That's hard to know at this time but I am working on it. They don't even post the names of authors, which I thought was outside of Google News rules. By appearances in the design and operation of the theme, California News Times looks like EMINETRA.COM, another web scraping site that was the first to take Oakland News Now content, but then basically stopped about two months after CaliforniaNewsTimes.com started popping up. I have reached out to Google Search honcho Danny Sullivan about this, but not a response, yet. Hey @dannysullivan why are you and @googlesearchc allowing California News Times to steal Oakland News Now content and put it on Google News? pic.twitter.com/MTjyPHbq2c — Zennie Abraham CEO Zennie62Media, Inc. / Zennie62 (@ZennieAAbraham) August 23, 2021 I'm not saying its Danny's fault, but I would think that in his position, he would be able to make sure Google policy is followed, and users are protected. Stay tuned.
