George Paton Broncos' Cap, Draft&UDFAs Nik Bonitto, Greg Dulcich, Demarri Mathis, Ja'Quan McMillan - Video

A Zennie62 Oakland News Now YouTube vlog George Paton played quarterback at Loyola High School (Los Angeles) and defensive back at UCLA from 1988 to 1991, being a part of a pair of Bruin bowl teams. While at UCLA, Paton earned a bachelor's degree in history. Paton played college football at UCLA and later professionally in Europe in the Austrian Football League and Italian Football League. Paton started his NFL career with Chicago in 1997 as a scouting assistant, ascending to Pro Scout from 1998-99 and Assistant Director of Pro Personnel from 2000-01. He clearly Paton likes to state his mantra of “draft and develop” is perhaps the most in the NFL. He also has the courage of his vonvictions, Paton opted to go with CB Patrick Surtain II. That decision left many wondering why Fields’ name was left off the selection card. The reason why he was is that George Paton didn’t believe he was their guy. Paton drafted the prospect in whom the Broncos had the most belief, regardless of position. though the Broncos needed a quarterback, they weren't sold on Justin Fields. Instead they drafted CB Patrick Surtain II. Also, Bryce Callahan and Michael Ojemuida are both solid but there's room for more talent. Additionally, Paton likely cares more about the run game than some GMs. George Paton has a history of valuing size and speed prospects especially in the middle and later rounds.
